* Better identified with  bipolar montage
* Clinical significance: sign of bone abnormality, not an EEG abnormality
* Presence of abnormal slowing or low amplitude within the breach effect’s region may indicate cerebral pathology
* In rare cases skull metastasis can also cause breach rhythm
